YOGA CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
All of Anchorage Yoga's classes are intelligently infused by the movement and styles studied and practiced by our amazing teachers. Classes are ongoing, offered on a "drop-in" basis unless otherwise noted. If you are not sure which classes match your needs, please contact us -- we're available and happy to answer any questions and make suggestions on what class level and style might work best for you. We encourage you to explore all the different class styles. We are confident that you will find classes that inspire, challenge and feel good to you!
Hot Flow
Our signature class! This alignment-based vinyasa (or flow) class is rooted in the tradition of classical Hatha yoga, infused with a touch of heat and linked together with fluid transitions. Designed to be similar or the same sequence every class it is perfect for beginners. From head to toe your body will feel invigorated and detoxified while you sharpen your mental focus and renew your spirit. Be prepared to SWEAT!

Hot 60/75/90 (Bikram Method)
Immerse yourself in the therapeutic heat and transformative power of our Hot 26 yoga series. This class, inspired by the traditional Bikram method, is designed to heal, strengthen, and balance both body and mind. Whether you're experiencing the full 90-minute sequence or a condensed 60 or 75-minute version, you'll engage in a static series of 26 postures, carefully sequenced to work every part of your body. Depending on the class format, you'll move through two sets of key postures and a single set of others, or experience two sets of all 26 at an invigorating pace. The heated environment allows you to work deeper into your muscles, enhancing flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, and muscular strength. Prepare to cultivate focus, determination, and a profound sense of well-being as you move through this dynamic and healing practice.

Hot 75 with Music
Get moving with this teacher-led yoga class set to an eclectic mix of music. This 75 minute class features the traditional Hot 26 asanas. Experience the healing vibrations of music as the instructor practices with you and only offers cues of “begin” and “change” for each posture in a quiet, low-light setting where deep meditation can be enjoyed. In this class you’ll understand the phrase “YOU are your own best teacher.”

Hot Yoga
This Ghosh lineage class follows a specific, traditional hatha yoga method of alternating stillness, physical meditation, and direct, instructional language. The primary physical benefits that take place rely on a circulatory process called the tourniquet effect. This practice brings better health, mental clarity, builds strength, flexibility, and endurance to anyone willing to work hard in our supportive environment. With consistent practice and right effort, we develop balance, emotional control, and equanimity.

Flow 1
This vinyasa (or flow) style class has an emphasis on alignment and creative in nature. Our flow classes are inventive and thoughtfully sequenced. Rooted in the foundation of Ashtanga you will experience sun salutations, standing & seated postures, back bending and inversions – guided by a slow and steady breath. *Newer students receive extra support and attention in our level 1/2 classes.

Flow 2
Our flow (or vinyasa) style class has an emphasis on alignment and creative in nature. All of our flow classes are inventive and thoughtfully sequenced. Rooted in the foundation of Ashtanga you will experience sun salutations, standing & seated postures, back bending, inversions, and arm balances. We guarantee you will leave this class feeling strong in both body and mind. Enliven your mind, lift your spirit, and be ready to explore your edge!
*Level 2/3 is for students with a regular yoga practice.

Bliss Flow
Breathe.... Move.... and Sweat your way through this soulful vinyasa class! With sweet tunes and less verbal cues, you can dance your way from one pose to the next and top it off with 30 minutes of deep stretch. Be prepared for some mind-massagin’, body-stretchin’ peace-providin’ BLISS.

Gentle
This well-supported, slow-paced Hatha yoga focuses on basic yoga poses attention to breathing, alignment, and mindfulness. Therapeutic in nature, you will learn techniques to help you gain strength and flexibility while immersing yourself in a relaxing environment. This class is a perfect place to begin a yoga practice or just slow it down a little bit.

The Practice
Step into a practice that bridges the depth of Hatha Raja Yoga with the dynamic rhythm of Ashtanga Vinyasa, creating a class that is both meditative and powerful, structured yet deeply intuitive. Rooted in the classical teachings of Hatha Yoga, this practice balances strength and surrender, integrating breath, movement, and stillness to prepare the body and mind for deeper states of awareness. The influence of Raja Yoga, the “Royal Path,” brings a focus on concentration (Dharana), meditation (Dhyana), and self-mastery, guiding you beyond the physical into a state of inner stillness and clarity. With an Ashtanga-inspired flow, expect intelligent sequencing, disciplined breath control (Ujjayi), and a steady, rhythmic pace that builds internal heat and cultivates deep focus.

Restorative
On the yoga-class spectrum, restorative yoga is at the opposite end from hot or flow classes. The concept behind restorative yoga is muscular release, as opposed to muscular stretch. The class is designed to allow the body to relax and nourish itself by holding a series of gentle poses for extended periods of time. Props are utilized so that the practitioner can fully surrender. These soothing postures offer an opportunity to linger quietly and savor the simple sweetness of life while inducing stress-reduction, increased circulation and calmness of mind.

Deep Stretch
Deep Stretch is different from most traditional classes in that we don't explore any standing postures. Remaining close to the floor allows you to penetrate deep beneath the surface of your body. Long, slow, deep stretching allows you to unlock and release enormous amounts of tension. This class focuses on relaxing into the realm of your hips and shoulders and is often supported by the use of blocks and straps. Sweet Bliss!

Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini classes have their roots in the science and technology of Kundalini yoga while also expanding with an alchemy of complimentary modalities including: Hatha yoga, Functional Fitness, Breath-Work, Primal movements, Sound Healing, and more for an overall transformative experience. Each class offers a transcending experience full of powerful kriyas and deep meditations. Each class is designed to strengthen the body, tone the mind, and awaken the spirit.

Core + Stability
Unlock your body’s full potential with this intelligent, full-body movement practice designed to enhance joint health, mobility, and deep core strength. True stability comes from a strong core and well-functioning joints, allowing us to move effortlessly and pain-free in our daily lives. In this class, you’ll explore small, isolated movements that activate the deepest layers of your core, improve body control, and create a foundation of strength and resilience. Expect to breathe deeply, move with precision, and work intelligently into your tissues—all while giving your body the time and space to integrate the work through intentional rest. Move smarter. Sacred Movement: A Journey into Self & Source. Step into a practice that is more than movement—it is a ceremony, a portal, a return to wholeness.
